Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet?

Yes, with any video call or recording software. SeventyMute doesn't mute the mic INSIDE the video app: it mutes it at the macOS system level (CoreAudio), so the effect is the same no matter which app is open, even in full screen or while sharing your screen.

Why does the app ask for zero permissions?

SeventyMute never listens to the sound: it simply flips the mute switch of the default input device (the same property macOS itself uses). Since nothing is captured or recorded, macOS requires no Microphone or Accessibility authorization at all.

Does it work with a USB mic or Bluetooth headset?

Yes, with any microphone macOS recognizes as an input device (built-in, USB, Bluetooth, audio interface). SeventyMute automatically follows the default device: switch microphones and the shortcut keeps working on the new one.

Does the orange dot in the menu bar still light up?

No. macOS's orange dot signals that an app is LISTENING to the microphone; SeventyMute never listens, it only flips the input on or off at the system level. The orange dot depends solely on your video app, not on SeventyMute.

What's the difference between the website version and the App Store one?

It's the same app. On this website: a free 7-day trial, then a 3.90 CHF one-time license with automatic updates. On the App Store: direct purchase, updates through Apple. Pick whichever suits you.
